♥ A lovely phrase you often hear in Italy, “Ti aspettiamo…”, “We wait for you…” is one of many ways Italy invites and beckons us to visit, to return. And Italy does wait for you with open arms and a warm heart… ♥
Of course, this refrain is all the more poignant now with the heart rending events and images coming from my beloved Italy during these troublesome times. But, having been raised in an Italian family, with my roots deep in Italy, I know that they are a strong and resilient people. Somehow that DNA resonates in me, gives me strength, pride, and hope…
My commitment and passion for sharing the Italy I love with you remains steadfast. During this difficult time I have been in close contact with my friends there and we share the same sentiment – someday in the not too distant future, we will all be called back to support and celebrate bella Italia.
Considered the most beautiful country in the world, and on everyone’s bucket list, I know of no other destination that inspires such adoration, that touches and inspires so many hearts and minds. Despite the devastating losses, the treasures of Italy remain; the incomparable art, food and culture but most of all, the warmth and generosity of her wonderful people.
Italy will return and rise from this tragedy, stronger than ever. It will endure. There will be a new day; a rebirth, a renewal…a new renaissance.
And they will be waiting for us and I will be there because I know Italy is waiting for me.

Oh Victoria! What in the world can one say? Such a great post! Again you’ve brought tears to my eyes! Every time I think of leaving a couple of weeks ago, I feel quite ill and so sad. Italy has always called us to return and return we shall! Ti amo!
Phyllis dear…I don’t know what to say either. I have been wanting to write something and nothing came to mind until I was walking and the phrase “ti aspettiamo” bubbled up…the rest flowed from the heart. I know how much you & Joe also love bella Italia and ache for her now… but return we will and, hopefully, enjoy a celebratory toast together!
