♥ Finding My Muse (Italian Style) in Chianti Country with Arianna and Alessio, the delightful husband and wife team of KM Zero Tours ♥

I became aware of Arianna and Alessiothrough a fellow blogger and dear friend, Marilyn Ricci (Take Me Home to Italy). I loved their philosophy and dedication to offering authentic experiences and focusing on local producers and artisans.

When I reached out to them in hopes of connecting during my spring travels, they immediately arranged to  include and accommodate me during my time in Florence… and I’m so glad that they did…

If you’ve been following me, you know that one of my passions is experiencing the authentic, local lifestyle of a place; the food, the crafts, the traditions, the people…

Thanks to Arianna and Alessio, I enjoyed all of that during our intimate and unforgettable few days together in Chianti Country. From our agriturismo, Azienda Agricola Macinello, we headed for San Gimignano to visit a boutique organic winery where the famous Vernacccia white wine is produced. We are greeted by Filippo, given an informative tour of Cappella Sant’Andrea followed by a delightful lunch of local specialties paired, of course, with their wines…

Although I have b en to San Gimignano several times, I never tire of this unique medieval town. Today we meet Matteo, a local silversmith and watch him create a pair of earrings…

Our day ends with an absolutely scrumptious feast at A Casa Mia with Maurizio and Cosimo…

The next day we are off to visit a very special farm and meet a very special woman…Nora of Chianti Cashmere.Nora has pioneered raising cashmere goats as well as sustainable breeding.

We are greeted by the mothers and babies and then enjoy another delicious pranzo (lunch) under a canopy of wisteria. After good-bye hugs we are off to visit Siena.

Again, I have been here several times but it’s stunning Piazza del Campo (where the famous Palio horse race takes place) and majestic Duomo still take my breath away… Our time together ends with a traditional dinner including bistecca Fiorentina at our agriturismo with owners, Miranda and Maurizio. The perfect ending to 48 perfect hours!
