Ooolala! In a few short weeks I’ll be arriving in Bordeaux, France, for the very first time. I simply cannot believe that it has been eight (8) years since my last visit to France…mon Dieu, where does the time go?

Now, after months of anticipation, I am truly delighted- sur la lune (over the moon) – to be returning in September…and to be returning for another Uniworld Boutique River Cruise! Having cruised with Uniworld before I know what to expect!…

Oui! I will be floating in world-class luxury…culinary excellence, divine amenities, and service par excellence… pampered, spoiled, delighted, satiated…oh my, what’s a gal to do?? Well, enjoy and revel in every minute, of course!

I’m looking forward to unpacking once and having my luxury boutique floating “hotel” escort me along the world-famous Dordogne, Garonne, and Gironde waterways.

Stopping along the way we will visit picture-perfect villages, vineyards and châteaux. Cadillac, Paulliac, Mèdoc, Blaye, Saint Émilion…names every wine aficionado knows and covets…

And, since I’ve never been to Bordeaux or Southwest France, I am book ending my Uniworld River Cruise with several days in historic Bordeaux. Named by Lonely Planet as one of the 
“Best Cities to Visit in 2017”, Bordeaux is experiencing her own renaissance and is now the second most visited city in France.

Thanks to the staff of Visit Bordeaux (Bordeaux-Tourisme), I will be well prepared and ready to enjoy her historic sites, museums and many delights including: the Place de la Bourse and Miroir d’Eau; the recently opened wine museum, La Cité du Vin; and the food market, Marché des Capucins.

Just strolling along picturesque quays and exploring her inviting historical neighborhoods, monuments and, of course, sampling her wine and cuisine, promise rich experiences!
