AKA Friendly Reminders from YOUR Boots on the Ground in the Boot!
The world of travel is certainly every changing and, to be honest, is pretty volatile. What were once “truisms”/guidelines that we could count on simple don’t exist.
The guidelines have blurred and changed for a number of reasons (which I won’t expand on here)…however, whatever the reasons or causes, it behooves us to stay as current as we can with what is trending. Even that can be very challenging, confusing (and downright frustrating!) given that there are so many sources vying for our attention and our travel dollars!
Certainly, those “good ol’ days” when you could wait and get last minute air fare deals, be spontaneous and didn’t really need reservations/booking ahead of time, even great customer service…well, they are the “good ol’ days” and lovely memories to have. However, do not expect anything to be the same as it was “back when”…especially before COVID or you are sure to be disappointed. The only given we can count on is change – and it demands being flexible.
Although we are experiencing unprecedented times, from where I sit people are still traveling – in droves! And, in the event you are thinking about or planning a vacation in the near or even distant future, I wanted to re-share my travel “pearls of wisdom” with you!

All that said, as I review what I have published on my blog and in my book over the past 12-14 years (except for changes resulting from COVID and social media saturation), I can honestly say that they are still sound and still hold true.
After years of experience helping scores of clients (solos, couples, families, friends, and small groups) design, plan and take their vacations, not to mention my own travels and now living here in Italy five years…I have summarized my observations and tips in easily digestible formats.
