Timely Travel TipZ from YOUR Boots on the Ground in the Boot!
Traditionally (at least in the US), “Labor Day” (the first Monday in September) signals the end of summer and, soon, the start of the new school year. (Not to mention putting all of your whites away in the closet!)
Here in Italy, undoubtedly life slows down in July and especially in August, so September also means easing into “il rientro” – getting back to work and school…
In the travel biz, it used to mark the beginning of “off or shoulder season” – when we could expect lower prices and fewer tourists (not to mention more temperate climate!) – however, especially post-COVID when tourism resumed with a vengeance and hasn’t slowed down, these long accepted seasonal shifts have become very fuzzy and shifted considerably.
So, if you’re thinking that “off season” is the optimal time to come…I hate to burst your bubble but I am HERE 100% and I can tell you that there is no “low/off season” as we used to know it – there is a less busy time but tourism is still surging and predictions are that it will continue to do so.
At least here in Italy, the major and most popular destinations (Rome, Florence, Venice, the Amalfi coast, for example) are experiencing very little slow down into late October and even into November…then definitely picking up for spring (April and May).
♦ So WHEN is the Best Time to Come?
All that said, I would be remiss if I didn’t share how critically important it is to plan ahead and there really is no better time than NOW – and that’s exactly why having someone here in “real time” is so beneficial! And all that said, the best time to come is when you can!
