♥ Be Our Guest: At Il Fontanaro in Umbria ♥

Let's Go to Italy Together!

♥ Finding My Muse (Italian Style) at Il Fontanaro with Alina & Nonna Lucia  ♥

Several months ago I received an invitation to visit an idyllic organic farm to “experience the real Italian slow living life enjoying our art of food, extra virgin olive oils and wine, and meeting our lifestyle and traditions”.

I thought I was dreaming but when I visited their website, looked at the spectacular photos and read more about Il Fontanaro and their Country Slow Living,  I didn’t hesitate to say “si!

The name rang a bell and I remembered that a friend and fellow blogger, Rick Zullo (Rick’s Rome), had also stayed there and had written about his experience…in positively glowing terms. And, I can certainly confirm that he was not exaggerating!Fontanaro

I’ll be sharing much more about my idyllic time at Il Fontanaro and the generosity and hospitality of Alina and Nonna Lucia when I return home…but for now I’m just going to invite you to enjoy this pictorial feast with me.

Let's Go to Italy Together!

💚 A lovely welcome to Il Fontanaro…a gem in the “green heart of Italy”…where everything is made with love!Fontanaro

After settling in, the next day is filled with foodie delights!

Il Fontanaro, committed to an organic lifestyle, produces wine and award winning olive oil. Before our cooking class we enjoy an informative olive oil tasting on the patio under a canopy of roses.Fontanaro Under Alina’s expert instruction, we try our hand at making three kinds of pasta: star ravioli (stuffed with stracchino cheese and zucchini blossoms), “guitar”(made with red wine) and tagliatelle-each to be combined with a different sauce including Paciano style meat ragu and Senese pork and cherry tomatoes.

Absolutely delizioso! Fontanaro

Since I’m here to experience “country slow living”, I enjoy gentle walks and just soaking in the lush, beautiful countryside and picturesque local villages. Among them…

Paciano…Fontanaro

Chiusi…Fontanaro

Citta della Pieve…Fontanaro

Thanks to Lucia, I am introduced to Lia whose bakery, Lo Scoiattolo, (the squirrels), is well known among locals…and for good reason!Fontanaro

I also have the opportunity to take a weaving workshop with Monica, Tessuti Artigianali, a very talented and patient tessitrice.Fontanaro

When you come to Il Fontanaro you will be embraced by the generous hospitality of the Pinelli family and immerse in tradition of authentic country slow living…Fontanaro

Grazie da cuore Alina and Lucia for welcoming me into your home. I loved and will cherish every moment with you, your family (including baby Stella), friends (such as Nice visiting from Parma), the wonderful staff (Indika and Rodrigo) and all of the furry friends…Fontanaro
