♥ My Valentine’s Day gift to all of YOU! ♥
Delightful, enchanting, captivating artist, Marc Chagall, and his vibrant, sparkling world of color and dreams…

I had the pleasure and privilege of a recent visit to nearby Ferrara (an hour by train from Florence) to see an exquisite exhibit at the Palazzo dei Diamante:
♥ Chagall, Witness of His Time ♥
An invitation into his “poetic universe” beautifully curated and represented by 200 of his works:
“…universally known for his floating figures and colorful, enchanted atmosphere, …a poet of his time, a poet of beauty and a guardian of memory…”

“Through his poetic gaze, Chagall transforms personal experience into shared reflection, revealing how behind the apparent simplicity of his creations lie themes that touch every human being; identity, exile, spirituality, and the joy of living.” (from exhibit description)

“Every painter is born somewhere and even if he later responds to the influences of other environments, a certain essence, a certain fragrance of his native land will always remain in his work.” – Marc Chagall 1947
Chagall through the years…and a youthful self portrait
“I feel that our problem today is only one: to unite. To gather what remains of us after disasters, to fill our hearts with noble intentions.” – Marc Chagall 1947
“The only land that is mine is the one within my soul. I enter it without a passport, as if it were my home.” – Marc Chagall 1975
“If every life inevitably moves toward its end, we must, during our own, color it with our colors of hope and love.” – Marc Chagall, 1972

♥I was profoundly touched by this exhibit – as a long time fan of Chagall I had never been to an exhibit of his works (only a few in Chicago) and it was such a delight – and I absolutely had to share with YOU!
And I do hope to be sharing MUCH more in the coming months…and, of course, welcoming you here to bella Italia! ♥
