Tis the Season…to Travel!

When is the best time to travel? Well, like anything else, it’s a matter of opinion. Certainly, there are many factors to consider. Spring and fall, which are often referred to as the “shoulder” or “off” seasons, are typically considered the best option and we’re advised to avoid “high season”. However, that may or may not be true or possible for you…

Let’s talk about why and, depending on your circumstances, what the upsides and downsides of shoulder and high seasons are…then decide for yourself!

since i travel for 2 to 3 months at a time i am forced to travel late fall or early spring: availability of seats on a plane or a ship, hotels are not at the high summer prices and the crowds are smaller. but you do miss out on great festivals and the wonderful summer in Italy. just replace it with easter processions and harvest events!

So pleased to see you here! I don’t get to travel for 2-3 months at a time (yet!) but definitely my tours and travel are in spring and fall as well. Typically better weather (although that has been unpredictable) but definitely agree about smaller crowds and better prices. Like you, I would love to experience more of those fabulous summer festivals in Italy – some day!
Hoping our paths cross in bella Italia!
