“Our happiest moments as tourists always seem to come when we stumble upon one thing while in pursuit of something else.”
— Lawrence Block
I’ve learned this the hard way! Yes, we want to see it all and do it all, but rushing and trying to cram in too much doesn’t feel like much of a vacation!
Set your priorities, have a game plan and a time frame, but be flexible. Don’t try and squeeze in too much and don’t over schedule. Enjoy what you are able to do.
Allow for ample travel time between destinations, for getting to and from airports and train stations, for checking in and checking out of accommodations, not to mention unexpected delays and detours.
Leave space for little pleasures, for meandering and lingering as well as for spontaneity and serendipities.
Stop. Sit. Savor. Stay a while. Enjoy!
